In programma quest’oggi la Omloop Mandel-Leie Schelde Meulebeke 2019. La corsa belga è giunta ormai alla sua settantaquattresima edizione e all’appuntamento saranno presenti undici formazioni Professional e nove Continental. L’albo d’oro è occupato prevalentemente da corridori di casa o in misura minore da atleti provenienti dai vicini Paesi Bassi. Oltre alla vittoria dell’austriaco Romans Vainsteins nel 2001, le uniche eccezioni al binomio Belgio-Olanda nell’albo d’oro sono rappresentate proprio da due vittorie italiane, con il successo di Stefano Zanini nel 2001 e quello di Alessandro Ballan nel 2007, ultimo corridore non belga ad alzare le braccia al cielo sul traguardo di Meulbeke fino al successo dell’olandese Wouter Wippert lo scorso anno.

Percorso e Partecipanti Omloop Mandel-Leie Schelde Meulebeke 2019
I corridori dovranno affrontare 192 chilometri del tutto pianeggianti intorno alla citta di Meulebeke. Si tratta di un circuito di 12,8 chilometri che i corridori dovranno percorrere per quindici volte prima di giocarsi la tappa in un più che probabile arrivo allo sprint. Ci sarà il campione in carica Wouter Wippert (EvoPro) che proverà a difendere la corona, ma il favorito numero sembra essere Tim Merlier (Corendon-Circus), con il nostro Niccolò Bonifazio (Total Direct Energie) che sembra essere il suo avversario principale. Non si possono poi trascurare nemmeno le possibilità di Boy Van Poppel (Roompot-Charles) e del duo della Wanty-Gobert composto da Timothy Dupont e Jérôme Baugnies.
