Tour de Romandie 2018, Fuglsang takes stage 4, Roglic keeps the lead

Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) crossed the finish line solo on Tour de Romandie 2018 stage 4. The Dane got his first success in this season and took a giant step forward in the GC jumping from fifteenth to fourth. The decisive attack was moved on the last descent of today’s racing, where Fuglsang opened a gap over a group of four and extended it to 50 seconds. Astana leader attempted to go clear on Basse Nendaz up-hill with more than 30 kilometers to go but at first Egan Bernal (Team Sky) and overall leader Primoz Roglic (Lotto Nl – Jumbo) and then a group of two made of Alberto Rui Costa and Richie Porte (BMC Racing) reeled in the Dane. Bernal attacked once again as soon as the summit of the climb was hit but Roglic and at a later stage Porte, Fuglsang and Rui Costa joined the Colombian joungster. At that moment, with a little less than 20 kilometers to go, Jakob Fuglsang moved the decivise counter-attack and gained ground on the chase. Former Radioshack rider made in Sion his grand entrance holding a sensible gap over the leader’s group. Primoz Roglic keeps on his shoulders the overall jersey with just over one stage remaining.
