Vuelta a Andalucia 2018, Modolo: “I feel sorry for my teammates”

Sacha Modolo (EF Education First-Drapac) almost tastes the flavour of victory at the end of the first stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia 2018. Italian sprinter approached the sprint held in Granada in the first position, optimally led out by his teammates. Despite this advantage, Modolo has been overtaken on the finish line by Thomas Boudat (Direct Energie), taking home only the picture of hilself celebrating over the finish line. Former UAE Team Emirates rider’s greatest today’s regret is about not having finalised the work his train has done for him. “I feel really sorry for my teammates because today they have been perfect – says Modolo – I am personally disappointed because I couldn’t dedicate the victoty to my team because of its performance”. Although the unsatisfying result achieved, Modolo has not lost his confidence: “Stage one has been very demanding and in facts had 3000 meters drop. By the way I have at least demonstrated that my condition is good“, concludes the Conegliano native.
