Volta ao Algarve 2018, Groenewegen: “My leadout has done a great job again”

Dylan Groenewegen (Lotto Nl-Jumbo) takes the spoils in the first stage of the Volta ao Algarve 2018. The Dutch sprinter, who has already won the first stage of Dubai Tour last week, once again proves to be one of the most competitive sprinters of the peloton. Today’s win, obtained over top sprinter Arnaud Demare (FDJ) and last stage winner at Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana Jurgen Roelandts (BMC Racing), represents an injection of confidence and proves the goodness of Lotto Nl-Jumbo’s train and of the wintry preparation of the twentyfive years old.

Today I felt really good” Groenewegen said afterwards. The Amsterdam native is proudful the most for the job his teammates have done in preparation to the sprint. “My leadout was already strong in Dubai and even today they have done a great job again – continues former Roompot rider – The timing was perfect and I finalise it myself in a long sprint”, pointing out how winning today was like the natural prosecution of the duties optimally complied by his team.
