Gp Industria e Artigianato 2018 Course

The order of arrival of the last editions is a guarantee of the course’s selectivity and of the startlist’s competivity. In pratical terms, the route is divided into two parts: the first one is flat whereas the second section of the course is rich of up-hills, terrain on which climbers claim a leading role. With over 100 kilometers remaining out to 200 of racing starts the first ascent of the San Baronto (6,5 kms, 5% average gradient), climb that has to be repeated four times along the last 100 kilometers. The last step on San Baronto’s summit is only with 5 kilometers to go and this could encourage a thrillling finale, also thanks to a steep final descent leading to Larciano.

Gp Industria e Artigianato 2018 favourites

Of course former winner Adam Yates in one of the main pretenders of the Tuscan one-day race. Mitchelton-Scott, Yates’ team, also lines up Strade Bianche contender Robert Power but also climbers like Jack Haig and Carlos Verona. Movistar Andrey Amador is a tough one not unlikely to Rafal Majka of Bora-hansgrohe (which lines up also Jay McCarthy), who will race on the roads that built him as a rider. The other former winner Simon Clarke (EF Education First-Drapac) can have a say. EF also lines up Daniel Martinez and Sep Vanmarcke, who can test himself in a demanding course. Bahrain-Merida is headlined by Giovanni Visconti, who can count on a competitive team for the objective of taking the success: riders like Sioutsou, Mohoric, Pellizotti or Agnoli are in the power of leading the Middle-eastern team in case the Sicilian won’t be up to the task. Still to prove what Josè Goncalves (Katusha-Alpecin) and Georg Preidler (Groupama-FDJ) can achieve. Must be taken into consideration also Cyclo-Cross World Champion Wout van Aert (Veranda’s Willems-Crelan), who finished Strade Bianche in third.

Professional teams invited to GP Industria e Artigianato want to cut in and they have the capability to do that. Androni-Sidermec-Bottecchia in first: the Piedmont-based team is headlined by Mattia Cattaneo, finished in top-5 last year, and can count also on all-rounder Francesco Gavazzi and climber Rodolfo Torres. Giulio Ciccone and Nicola Bagioli are probably leading Bardiani-CSF and Nippo-Vini Fantini-Europa Ovini: the latter team lines up also Juan Josè Lobato, whose condition still has to be tested, and Marco Canola, for whom the course may be too hard.  Write down also the names of Mauro Finetto (Delko-Provence Marseille-KTM), Eliot Lietaer (WB-Aqua Project-Veranclassic, whose leaders might find the route a little over-demanding), Tuscan Kristian Sbargli and August Jensen (Israel Cycling Academy), Matteo Busato (Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia), Sergey Lagutin (Gazprom-Rusvelo), Paolo Totò (Sangemini-MgKVis) and youngsters Steff Cras (Katusha-Alpecin), Lucas Hamilton (Mitchelton-Scott)
