Bahrain-Merida, Nibali officially races the 2018 Tour of Flanders

Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) confirms his partecipation to 2018 Tour of Flanders. The 2014 Tour de France winner’s decision was in the air, both because Nibali has always wanted to try the Flemish most prestigious race and because he wants to test his ability to race on the cobblestones. At first Bahrain-Merida staff was not sure to let Nibali take part to the Ronde but, once the team resolved unspecified logistic issues, in the end the green light is been given to the Sicilian.

Through an announcement published by Bahrain-Merida, Nibali can finally race the Tour of Flanders thanks to a solution which can let him take part both to the Ronde and to the Vuelta a Pais Vasco, planned for the following day. The team specifies that Nibali won’t be the leader in the Ronde but will sustain his mate Sonny Colbrelli. Nibali is settled for this prestigious task although for this year he won’t race the Paris-Roubaix because the Vuelta a Pais Vasco ends the day before the French classic.
