Vuelta a Andalucia 2018, Modolo: “I’m happy for my team – I don’t know what Barbero complains about”

Sacha Modolo (EF Education First-Drapac) releases the first stage’s second place and wins stage 3 of the Vuelta a Andalucia 2018. Italian sprinter showed himself very confident when he got down his bike and he didn’t conceal his satisfaction to the press. “It took a while to get my first victory and now I am happy, especially for my team – debuts Modolo – Both today and Wednesday have been fantastic and I felt very sorry for them when I failed to win the first stage. Even today they did a huge job and I really pursued this victory. I am very confident with my leadout and this gave me a huge grit to repay them”, manifesting his enjoyment.

Modolo’s sprint has been contested by Barbero (Movistar), who believes that EF-Drapac’s sprinter has not behaved properly. “I did not understand what Barbero complained about – says Modolo – When I started my effort I had my head down and then I took a bump. This is the only thing that comes to my mind since I did not have anyone on my side. I do not know what I could have done. Usually those who complain have done something unregular in turn. I saw that Gatto was complaining to him, but I do not know what happened behind me“. “At the last corner I braked and shifted in third position – adds Modolo – I did not have anyone on my side. I do not know when I acted unproperly and, moreover, the judjes decided that my sprint was regular”, ending his speech.
