Gaviria will miss the spring classics

Fernando Gaviria won’t be part of the competitors for the spring classics. The Quick Step Floors sprinter needs to be treated for a broken hand and is forced to stop for a month in order to recover from the injury. Gaviria crashed within the last 10 kilometers of racing in yesterday’s Tirreno-Adriatico stage 6 and consequently couldn’t take part to the sprint. Following further medical examinations, the Belgian team’s doctors figured out that Gaviria suffers of a broken hand. In addiction to Gaviria, also Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis), affected of bronchitis, won’t take parto to Milano – SanRemo.

Kittel participates to Milano – SanRemo

Marcel Kittel will take part for the first time in his career to Milano-SanRemo. Katusha – Alpecin‘s sprinter didn’t start this season with pretty much confidence mostly to the disappointing performances showed throughout the Gulf stage races, Dubai Tour and Abu Dhabi Tour. The most valuable achievement brang about at Tirreno-Adriatico is for sure the mutual understanding between Kittel and his train, as weel as the growth of former Quick Step Floors’ rider condition. Thanks to these premises Kittel changed his mind and now approaches the first Monument race ever.

Avila took the success on Tour de Taiwan stage 3

Edwin Avila (Israel Cycling Academy) took the sprint on Tour de Taiwan stage 3. The Colombian rider won the sprint over a group of thirteen in Taichung after 156 kilometers of racing. Bahrain-Merida’s Yukiya Arashiro (who lines up for Japanese national squad) finished in second and Australian Jonathan Clarke (UnitedHealthcare) in third. The latter takes the lead in the GC and now holds on at 2 seconds of advantage ahead of Arashiro and Jimmy Janssens (Cibel-Cebon) with only two stages remaining.
