Tirreno-Adriatico 2018, Caruso keeps a low profile: “I can achieve a top-10 result in the GC”

Damiano Caruso is again the holder of Tirreno-Adriatico 2018 Maglia Azzurra. BMC Racing leader finished stage 4 6 seconds behind the winner Mikel Landa and wears the leader’s jersey with just one second of advantage over Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky). What Caruso  most proud of is to lead the overall on the eve of the stage whose finish is set in Michele Scarponi hometown, Filottrano. “Tomorrow’s stage will be the one in memory of Michele Scarponi, a guy who was well estimated by everyone because he was a great man. It is for sure fair to honor him and maybe this will be an extra incentive to achieve a good result. I am confident I can succeed in getting a top-10 result in the GC” says Caruso. The Sicilian also spoke about the moment when Geraint Thomas suffered of the mechanical problem which did not allowed the Welsh to play its cards in the finale. “We tought it was a simple chain leap but I didn’t figure out what happened until I crossed the finish lineadds Caruso – What I was about to think was to struggle and avoid to break off the wheels of the group that went all the way to the finish line”.
