Wheather reports forecast wet Milano-SanRemo
The rain is going to affect the 2018 Milano-Sanremo. With the exception of yesterday this week has been a taste of the springtime in Northern Italy and all was leading to favourable racing conditions. Tomorrow won’t go down this road: in fatcs, rain is expected to fall troughout most of the race, from early start in Milan to the final stages of racing on Aurelia trunk road. The last time when the rain fell heavily on the first seasonal Monument race it shook up the challenge and Gerald Ciolek took an unexpected victory over Sagan and Cancellara. Unlike the 2013 edition, tomorrow won’t be snowing and it will be warmer: temperatures are expected to range between 9°C (48°F) and 11°C (52°C).
Several riders ruled out on Milano-Sanremo’s eve
A handful of teams are forced to change their respective lines-up on the eve of Milano-SanRemo. UAE Team Emirates will switch Marco Marcato and Oliviero Troia with Filippo Ganna and Matteo Bono. BMC Racing will give up to race at GP Denain because of the shortage of healthy riders luned up by the American team: instead of former Milano-Sanremo winner Simon Gerrans will participate Francisco Ventoso. Jack Bauer, Mathew Hayman and Luka Mezgec will take part to the Italian Classic in place of Sam Bewley, Chris Juul-Jensen and Svein Tuft for Mitchelton-Scott.
