Cr\u00e9\u00e9e en 1908, cette course d&rsquo;outre-Rhin poss\u00e8de le statut 1.1 au calendrier de l&rsquo;Europe Tour. Si les sprinteurs ont souvent rafl\u00e9 la mise ces derni\u00e8res saisons, l&rsquo;\u00e9preuve reste toutefois assez ouverte en raison d&rsquo;un parcours quelque peu escarp\u00e9. Tout au long des 206 kilom\u00e8tres du parcours se dressent ainsi une dizaine de mont\u00e9es, n&rsquo;\u00e9tant toutefois pas toutes r\u00e9pertori\u00e9es. Jusqu&rsquo;aux vingt-cinq derniers kilom\u00e8tres, la route alterne alors entre mont\u00e9es et descentes. Ce n&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;issue de la derni\u00e8re bosse, \u00e0 30 kilom\u00e8tres de la ligne, que la route devient plate, et ce jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e.
