La vingti\u00e8me \u00e9tape empruntera les routes du massif du Jura, caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par des mont\u00e9es sans \u00eatre extr\u00eamement difficiles, mais n\u00e9anmoins tra\u00eetresses et souvent marqu\u00e9es par de courtes sections aux pentes tr\u00e8s prononc\u00e9es. Il est peu probable qu&rsquo;il y ait des bouleversements au classement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, mais le parcours con\u00e7u par les organisateurs, qui totalise 2900 m\u00e8tres de d\u00e9nivel\u00e9 positif sur les 184,2 kilom\u00e8tres entre <strong>Nantua<\/strong> et <strong>Pontarlier<\/strong>, laisse le champ libre \u00e0 l&rsquo;imagination des coureurs, \u00e0 condition qu&rsquo;elle soit soutenue par de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie et des jambes. Le d\u00e9part se fait en pente douce, mais la premi\u00e8re v\u00e9ritable ascension commencera une dizaine de kilom\u00e8tres apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9part, avec le <strong>Col de la Croix de la Serra<\/strong> qui, avec ses 12,1 kilom\u00e8tres \u00e0 4,1% (max. 7,1%), pourrait constituer un bon tremplin pour l&rsquo;\u00e9chapp\u00e9e du jour. La descente vers Saint-Claude vous am\u00e8nera au pied de la <strong>C\u00f4te de Valfin<\/strong> (5,7 kilom\u00e8tres \u00e0 4,2 %, max. 6,9 %), au sommet de laquelle la route continuera \u00e0 grimper pendant environ onze kilom\u00e8tres jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 Ch\u00e2teau-des-Pr\u00e9s avant de s&rsquo;engager dans une descente pr\u00e9dominante (alternant quelques mont\u00e9es et faux-planchers) pour les 60 kilom\u00e8tres suivants, au cours desquels elle passera \u00e9galement le <strong>Chaux du Dombief<\/strong>, une arriv\u00e9e en trombe.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois \u00e0 Salins-les-Bains, commence la <strong>C\u00f4te de Th\u00e9sy<\/strong> (3,6 km \u00e0 8,9 %, max 12,9 %), qui est assez exigeante mais avec 62,6 kilom\u00e8tres \u00e0 parcourir, et \u00e0 partir de l\u00e0 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e, le parcours est assez nerveux avec plusieurs mont\u00e9es et descentes, ainsi que la <strong>C\u00f4te de Longeville<\/strong> (2,5 km \u00e0 5,5 %, max 8,1 %), o\u00f9 il pourrait y avoir quelques bosses. C&rsquo;est sur la <strong>C\u00f4te de Longeville<\/strong> (2,5 km \u00e0 5 %, max 8,1 %) que pourrait se jouer la s\u00e9lection d\u00e9cisive puisqu&rsquo;il ne restera que 24 kilom\u00e8tres jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 <strong>Pontarlier<\/strong>. Une \u00e9chapp\u00e9e est donc le sc\u00e9nario le plus probable, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu&rsquo;\u00e0 Paris, nombreux seront ceux qui voudront jouer leur carte \u00e0 fond, en gardant le plus grand nombre de domestiques pr\u00e8s d&rsquo;eux. Ce sera donc une journ\u00e9e de libert\u00e9 pour de nombreux coureurs, dont l&rsquo;un pourrait \u00eatre <strong>Quinn Simmons<\/strong>, qui dans ce Tour de France a montr\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il avait des jambes exceptionnelles et qui surtout dans les petites ascensions sait \u00eatre l&rsquo;un des plus dangereux. Alors que Milan devrait b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d&rsquo;une journ\u00e9e de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration, le maillot vert lui revenant de droit, le champion am\u00e9ricain pourrait avoir carte blanche pour retenter sa chance et devenir la croix et la banni\u00e8re de l&rsquo;\u00e9chapp\u00e9e du jour.<\/p>\n<p>Comme lui, <strong>Julian Alaphilippe<\/strong> (Tudor Pro Cycling) et <strong>Wout Van Aert<\/strong> (Visma|Lease a Bike) semblent \u00eatre libres de leurs mouvements, eux qui, comme lui, n&rsquo;ont d\u00e9pens\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie aujourd&rsquo;hui que dans les premi\u00e8res \u00e9tapes, pour tirer sur les rames du bateau et se laisser porter par le courant jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e, en essayant de contr\u00f4ler chaque coup de p\u00e9dale. Chasseurs de classiques exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s, ils ont tous deux essay\u00e9 \u00e0 plusieurs reprises dans ce Tour, mais sans jamais trouver le bon jour, et ceci pourrait \u00eatre leur derni\u00e8re chance, car Paris, bien qu&rsquo;elle leur convienne, semble promise \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres noms&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>D&rsquo;autres hommes robustes et rapides sont clairement des coureurs comme <strong>Romain Gr\u00e9goire<\/strong> (Groupama-FDJ), qui apr\u00e8s un d\u00e9part fulgurant a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre moins vu, ayant moins d&rsquo;\u00e9tapes propices, un <strong>Axel Laurance<\/strong> (INEOS Grenadiers) qui a eu du mal \u00e0 trouver le moment mais ne s&rsquo;est certainement jamais cach\u00e9, et un coureur toujours g\u00e9n\u00e9reux comme <strong>Mauro Schmid<\/strong> (Team Jayco AlUla), un trio qui correspond aux caract\u00e9ristiques de l&rsquo;\u00e9tape. Comme eux, des coureurs comme <strong>Simone Velasco<\/strong> (XDS Astana), <strong>Magnus Cort<\/strong> (Uno-X Mobility), <strong>Fred Wright<\/strong> (Bahrain Victorious) et <strong>Thibau Nys<\/strong> (Lidl-Trek), qui n&rsquo;ont pas eu beaucoup de chance dans leurs d\u00e9placements, mais qui ont le potentiel pour s&rsquo;imposer.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi les plus redout\u00e9s et certainement les plus brillants jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, on trouve <strong>Jonas Abrahamsen<\/strong> (Uno-X Mobility), <strong>Jhonatan Narvaez<\/strong> (UAE Team Emirates XRG) et <strong>Victor Campenaerts<\/strong> (Visma | Lease a Bike), qui ont amplement d\u00e9montr\u00e9 leur brio au cours des trois derni\u00e8res semaines et qui pourraient trouver de la place pour exprimer leurs caract\u00e9ristiques dans une \u00e9tape o\u00f9 ils ne devraient avoir personne \u00e0 craindre. Le coureur Ivan Romeo (Movistar), qui a fait preuve d&rsquo;une excellente forme et d&rsquo;une grande volont\u00e9 d&rsquo;essayer, fera probablement partie de ceux qui voudront se surpasser.<\/p>\n<p>Sans oublier la pr\u00e9sence \u00e0 l&rsquo;avant d&rsquo;hommes complets comme <strong>Matteo Jorgenson<\/strong> (Visma|Lease a Bike), <strong>Luke Plapp<\/strong> (Team Jayco AlUla) et <strong>Neilson Powless<\/strong> (EF Education &#8211; EasyPost), qui, \u00e9tant loin au classement, n&rsquo;h\u00e9siteront pas \u00e0 tenter leur chance, tout comme le g\u00e9n\u00e9reux <strong>Bruno Armirail<\/strong> (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale) ou un <strong>Alex Aranburu<\/strong> (Cofidis) que l&rsquo;on n&rsquo;a pas beaucoup vu mais qui a sembl\u00e9 monter en puissance, pourraient se retrouver \u00e0 nouveau devant. Dans la m\u00eal\u00e9e plausible, on verra \u00e9galement <strong>Matej Mohoric<\/strong> (Bahrain Victorious), <strong>Kasper Asgreen<\/strong> (EF Education &#8211; EasyPost), <strong>Toms Skujins<\/strong> (Lidl-Trek), <strong>Valentin Madouas<\/strong> (Groupama-FDJ), <strong>Aureli\u00e9n Paret-Peintre<\/strong> (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale), <strong>Pablo Castrillo<\/strong> (Movistar) et <strong>Alexey Lutsenko<\/strong> (Israel &#8211; Premier Tech).<\/p>\n<p>Difficile de penser \u00e0 une arriv\u00e9e en peloton, mais dans ce cas, des coureurs comme <strong>Vincenzo Albanese<\/strong> (EF Education &#8211; EasyPost), <strong>Arnaud De Lie<\/strong> (Lotto), <strong>Davide Ballerini<\/strong> (XDS Astana), <strong>Bastien Tronchon<\/strong> (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale), <Anthony Turgis<\/strong> (TotalEnergies) et <strong>Jake Stewart<\/strong> (Israel &#8211; Premier Tech) pourraient \u00eatre dans le coup, car on suppose qu&rsquo;il ne devrait pas y avoir beaucoup de bagarre entre les hommes de t\u00eate et que le rythme pourrait \u00eatre \u00e9lev\u00e9, mais r\u00e9gulier.
