Sur les 180 kilom\u00e8tres reliant Saint-Palais \u00e0 Urdax-Dantxarinea, l&rsquo;\u00e9chapp\u00e9e du jour trouvera un terrain id\u00e9al pour aller au bout. Le parcours jamais plat pr\u00e9sente notamment trois ascensions r\u00e9pertori\u00e9es, ce qui devrait dissuader les \u00e9quipes de sprinteurs. Il sera aussi int\u00e9ressant de voir dans quelle mesure la Jumbo-Visma du nouveau leader voudra contr\u00f4ler la course. Au d\u00e9part de Saint-Palais, peu avant 13heures, les coureurs seront alors lanc\u00e9s sur une succession de mont\u00e9es dans les quarante premiers kilom\u00e8tres. Le terrain parfait pour construire une \u00e9chapp\u00e9e de costauds. Une fois le groupe constitu\u00e9, il faudra avaler le Col d&rsquo;Osquick (3e cat., 4,9km \u00e0 6,1%), au km77,2. Au sommet, les fuyards trouveront un peu de r\u00e9pit avant d&rsquo;attaquer le Col d&rsquo;Isp\u00e9guy (2e cat., 7,2km \u00e0 7,1%), sans doute l&rsquo;ascension la plus exigeante de la journ\u00e9e. De quoi op\u00e9rer une premi\u00e8re s\u00e9lection dans le groupe de t\u00eate, alors que les derniers sprinteurs devraient l\u00e2cher prise dans le peloton. Il y aura ensuite le Col de Otxondo (3e cat., 7,6km \u00e0 4,7%), au km142,8, qui marquera un court retour de la course en terres fran\u00e7aises. Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates) s&rsquo;\u00e9tait alors impos\u00e9 avec plus de 33 minutes d&rsquo;avance sur le peloton ! Le coureur italien s&rsquo;est fait discret depuis le d\u00e9part et pourrait bien tenter sa chance cet apr\u00e8s-midi. Jelle Wallays (Lotto Soudal) et St\u00e9phane Rossetto (Cofidis) \u00e9taient aussi dans ce coup et seront \u00e0 surveiller. Les exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s Philippe Gilbert (Deceuninck-Quick Step) et Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana) ont la faveur des bookmakers, tandis qu&rsquo;Alex Aranburu (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) a montr\u00e9 sa belle forme \u00e0 Igualada. Alors deuxi\u00e8me de Nikias Arndt (Sunweb), il r\u00eave d&rsquo;offrir une victoire \u00e0 son \u00e9quipe et pourrait bien tenter \u00e0 nouveau ce mercredi. Aussi, les habitu\u00e9s des \u00e9chapp\u00e9es depuis le d\u00e9part seront sans doute dans le coup, \u00e0 l&rsquo;image de Jesus Herrada (Cofidis), Dylan Teuns (Bahrain-Merida), Angel Madrazo (Burgos-BH) ou Sergio Henao (UAE Team Emirates).
