Lanc\u00e9 en 1934, le Grand Prix de la ville de Zottegem (GP Stad Zottegem) n\u2019a connu que deux annulations depuis sa cr\u00e9ation. L\u2019\u00e9preuve tient ainsi sa 84\u00e8me \u00e9dition ce mardi, sur un peu plus de 200 kilom\u00e8tres autour de Zottegem. Cette saison, le parcours se d\u00e9compose en une grande boucle de 52,6 kilom\u00e8tres puis huit tours locaux de 18,6 kilom\u00e8tres. Comme de coutume, deux difficult\u00e9s principales sont propos\u00e9es aux coureurs dans cette course : la c\u00f4te du\u00a0Grotenbergestraat et le bien connu secteur pav\u00e9 du Padderstraat, qui seront emprunt\u00e9s autant de fois que le circuit local.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 ce trac\u00e9 exigeant, il arrive parfois que la victoire se joue dans un sprint en peloton r\u00e9duit, comme l’illustrent les victoires de Tim Merlier (2016) ou Jasper De Buyst (2017). N\u00e9anmoins, la course sied \u00e9videmment aux attaquants et la saison pass\u00e9e, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Baugnies en avait profit\u00e9 pour s’imposer face \u00e0 Aim\u00e9 De Gendt. Le tenant du titre est bien pr\u00e9sent sur cette \u00e9dition 2019 pour d\u00e9fendre sa couronne. \u00c0 noter l’absence, comme l’an dernier, d’\u00e9quipe WorldTour au d\u00e9part.<\/p>\n
