Ce mardi, la 16e \u00e9tape du Giro propose 194 kilom\u00e8tres entre Lovere et Ponte di Legno. Sur le papier, cela aurait d\u00fb \u00eatre l&rsquo;\u00e9tape reine du Giro, mais l&rsquo;annulation du Passo Gavia abaisse l\u00e9g\u00e8rement le niveau de difficult\u00e9. N\u00e9anmoins, les coureurs affronteront tout de m\u00eame 4800 m\u00e8tres de d\u00e9nivel\u00e9. La route s&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e8ve d\u00e8s le d\u00e9part avec deux premi\u00e8res ascensions non r\u00e9pertori\u00e9es : Passo della Presolana (11,1km \u00e0 5,8%), puis Croce di Salven (8,8km \u00e0 4,1%). Apr\u00e8s ces deux difficult\u00e9s, il y aura une trentaine kilom\u00e8tres plats pour contourner le Gavia. Une premi\u00e8re difficult\u00e9 r\u00e9pertori\u00e9e suit avec Cevo (3e cat., 10,8km \u00e0 5,8%) au km89. Vient ensuite la mont\u00e9e d&rsquo;Aprica (3e cat., 15km \u00e0 3,4%) avant l&rsquo;ascension terrible du Mortirolo (1\u00e8re cat., 11,9km \u00e0 10,9%). Au sommet, il restera encore 28 kilom\u00e8tres pour rallier la ligne. Pass\u00e9e une descente technique, les 13 derni\u00e8res unit\u00e9s de course sont en mont\u00e9e, avec une pente r\u00e9guli\u00e8re de 2,5%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Malgr\u00e9 l&rsquo;absence de la Cima Coppi, le maillot rose Richard Carapaz (Movistar) devrait \u00eatre attaqu\u00e9 ce mardi. Tous deux loin au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) et Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) pourraient bien tenter de partir de bonne heure pour renverser la course. Plac\u00e9s en embuscade, Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) et Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) trouveront ici un terrain id\u00e9al pour faire vaciller le maillot rose. Rafal Majka (Bora-hansgrohe) constitue un outsider int\u00e9ressant. En pleine forme depuis le d\u00e9part de Bologne, le Polonais devrait se plaire sur les pourcentages terribles du Mortirolo.
