Les coureurs longeront alors principalement la Mer Tyrrh\u00e9nienne, avec un profil qui peut \u00eatre divis\u00e9 en deux parties. La premi\u00e8re est compl\u00e8tement plate jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 la zone de ravitaillement, la seconde pr\u00e9sente trois bosses r\u00e9pertori\u00e9es au classement de la montagne. Il faudra alors grimper le Monte della Mattera (3e cat., 9,1km \u00e0 3,9%), Monteluro (4e cat., 6km \u00e0 3%) et enfin le Monte Gabicce (2,2km \u00e0 5,1%). Au sommet de cette derni\u00e8re mont\u00e9e, il ne restera plus que 24 kilom\u00e8tres \u00e0 parcourir. Les \u00e9quipiers de sprinteurs devraient alors pouvoir ramener l&rsquo;\u00e9chapp\u00e9e et offrir un emballage final \u00e0 leurs leaders. Il faudra tout de m\u00eame se m\u00e9fier de la descente rapide entre 6 et 2,5 kilom\u00e8tres de l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e. D&rsquo;autant que l&rsquo;Allemand a perdu un concurrent de poids avec l&rsquo;abandon, hier, de Fernando Gaviria (UAE-Team Emirates). Sacha Modolo (EF Education First) a \u00e9galement quitt\u00e9 la course. Revanchard, Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-Quick Step) sera forc\u00e9ment \u00e0 surveiller. Tout comme Arnaud D\u00e9mare (Groupama-FDJ) qui encha\u00eene les places d&rsquo;honneur depuis le d\u00e9part, mais court toujours apr\u00e8s son premier succ\u00e8s de la saison. Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) compl\u00e8te la liste des favoris. Plusieurs outsiders sont \u00e0 signaler, notamment Matteo Moschetti (Trek-Segafredo) et Davide Cimolai (Israel Cycling Academy), qui ont bien figur\u00e9 jusqu&rsquo;alors.
