Cr\u00e9\u00e9e en 1973 sous le nom de Hel van het Margelland, la Volta Limburg est une semi-classique qui a lieu aux alentours de Maastricht, dans le sud du Limbourg n\u00e9erlandais. Autrefois chasse gard\u00e9e des N\u00e9erlandais, du temps o\u00f9 elle \u00e9tait une \u00e9preuve amateur-\u00e9lites (jusqu\u2019en 1992), la classique s\u2019est internationalis\u00e9e au d\u00e9but du 21e si\u00e8cle, int\u00e9grant l\u2019UCI Europe Tour en 2005. Sous sa nouvelle appellation depuis 2012, l\u2019\u00e9preuve a d’abord plut\u00f4t r\u00e9ussi aux sprinters. Toutefois, des modifications de parcours appliqu\u00e9es en 2015\u00a0ont bien compliqu\u00e9 la t\u00e2che des hommes rapides, puisque c\u2019est Stefan K\u00fcng, Floris Gerts (BMC) puis Marco Canola (Nippo \u2013 Vini Fantini) et Jan Tratnik (CCC Sprandi-Polkowice) qui se sont successivement impos\u00e9s ces deux derni\u00e8res saisons.<\/p>\n

En raison de son parcours durci, la Volta Limburg Classic s\u2019apparente d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 une r\u00e9p\u00e9tition en vue de l\u2019Amstel Gold Race, deux semaines plus tard, qui se tient dans la m\u00eame r\u00e9gion et qui emprunte quelques bosses similaires. Le trac\u00e9 imagin\u00e9\u00a0depuis 2015 a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u00e9g\u00e8rement modifi\u00e9 pour cette \u00e9dition 2019. Les coureurs devront ainsi boucler une premi\u00e8re boucle de 100 kilom\u00e8tres, comprenant une multitude de mont\u00e9es, avant d’aller chercher les trois tours de circuits locaux \u00e0 Vaals, puis de rebrousser chemin pour regagner\u00a0Eijsden, ville de d\u00e9part et d’arriv\u00e9e. Dans les cinquante derni\u00e8res bornes, il faudra ainsi franchir de nouvelles bosses,\u00a0dont celles de\u00a0Gulperberg, de Koning van Spanje, Mheererlindje et Moerslag, avant d\u2019entamer un court circuit urbain de six kilom\u00e8tres au terme duquel sera jug\u00e9e l\u2019arriv\u00e9e. Au total, l’organise rel\u00e8ve plus de quarante bosses, plus ou moins difficiles, et plus ou moins longues.<\/p>\n
