Unico a resistere allo scatto di <strong>Bauke Mollema<\/strong> sull&#8217;ultima salita di giornata, il francese supera nettamente il rivale nella decisiva volata a due conquistando per la prima volta la corsa spagnola.\u00a0A completare il podio di giornata \u00e8 <strong>Anthony Roux<\/strong>, che nel ristretto sprint conclusivo supera <strong>Greg Van Avermaet<\/strong> e <strong>Julien Simon<\/strong>. Segnata dal grande ritmo e da una maxicaduta che ha tagliato fuori alcuni big attesi a 20 chilometri dalla conclusione, la corsa si \u00e8 dunque decisa sull&#8217;ultimo strappo di giornata, dove i due sono riusciti a guadagnare sul resto del gruppo, per poi giocarsi il successo al termine della discesa e breve pianura finale.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingpro.net\/spaziociclismo\/diretta\/diretta-clasica-san-sebastian-2018-live\/\">RIVIVI LE EMOZIONI DEL LIVE<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pronti-via e si staccano subito due corridori, <strong>Pablo Torres<\/strong> (Burgos-BH) e <strong>Aritz Bag\u00fces<\/strong> (Euskadi-Murias), che hanno subito il benestare del gruppo. Un paio di chilometri pi\u00f9 tardi si riportano su di loro altri quattro corridori, ovvero <strong>Lo\u00efc Chetout<\/strong> (Cofidis), <strong>Lluis Guillermo Mas<\/strong> (CajaRural-RGA), <strong>Sergio Rodriguez<\/strong> e <strong>Cyril Barthe<\/strong> (Euskadi-Murias), che vanno cos\u00ec a formare un interessante sestetto con ben tre uomini della squadra di casa, la professional basca che spera di ridare lustro alla grande tradizione locale.<\/p>\n<p>I primi tre GPM scorrono via senza sussulti, con i fuggitivi che si spartiscono i punti e di conseguenza i premi in denaro ed arrivano ad avere un vantaggio massimo di 7&#8217;45&#8221;. Chetout conquista la salita di Meaga, Torres quella di Iturburu e Barthe l&#8217;Alkiza. Sul primo passaggio dello Jaikzibel si muove qualcosa anche in gruppo e a 100 km dall&#8217;arrivo provano ad avvantaggiarsi <strong>Hermann Pernsteiner<\/strong> (Bahrain-Merida) e <strong>Jorge Cubero<\/strong> (Burgos-BH), i quali fanno scendere drasticamente il vantaggio dei sei battistrada.<\/p>\n<p>La <strong>Katusha-Alpecin<\/strong> non lascia spazio ai due contrattaccanti e li riprende rapidamente prima dello scollinamento della storica salita, conquistato anch&#8217;esso da Barthe. Sull&#8217;Arkale l&#8217;andatura aumenta ulteriormente e <strong>Winner Anacona<\/strong> (Movistar) scatta in vista del GPM, cercando di indurire la corsa in favore del suo capitano. Davanti Barthe scollina ancora per primo e sulla seconda scalata dello Jaizkibel saluta definitivamente tutti e prova ad andare via in solitaria. In gruppo \u00e8 il <strong>Team Sky<\/strong> a prendere in mano la situazione, con Anacona che, dopo aver acquisito circa 30 secondi, \u00e8 costretto a cedere e farsi riassorbire dal gruppo. Ripresi tutti gli altri attaccanti, Barthe resiste come pu\u00f2, scollinando in testa solitario, seppur con appena cinque secondi di vantaggio.<\/p>\n<p>La presenza in testa alla corsa del basco francese fa comodo alle squadre dei big, che gli concedono cos\u00ec nuovamente qualche attimo di gloria, almeno fino a quando non si torna ad avvicinarsi all&#8217;Arkale, quando <strong>Movistar<\/strong> e <strong>Astana<\/strong> scaldano i muscoli in vista di alcuni nuovi attacchi che sconvolgono la situazione. Barthe deve dunque arrendersi con <strong>Kanstantin Siutsou<\/strong> (Bahrain-Merida), <strong>Ian Boswell<\/strong> (Katusha-Alpecin) e nuovamente Anacona che si lanciano in avanscoperta, portandosi al comando della corsa. Il loro vantaggio massimo non arriver\u00e0 neanche a venti secondi perch\u00e9 quando si torna a salire \u00e8 <strong>Steven Kruijswijk<\/strong> (LottoNL-Jumbo) a forzare l&#8217;andatura in gruppo, portandosi dietro anche <strong>Mikel Landa<\/strong> (Astana) e via via tutti gli altri.<\/p>\n<p>Mentre davanti \u00e8 Boswell ad accelerare, con Siutsou a seguirlo, l&#8217;azione del corridore neerlandese porta alla reazione del gruppo, che si sfilaccia e si spezza per andare a riprendere tutti. A quel punto \u00e8 <strong>Pierre Latour<\/strong> (Ag2r La Mondiale) a tentare la sortita, mentre in coda c&#8217;\u00e8 <strong>Miguel Angel Lopez<\/strong> (Astana), ormai tagliato fuori. Sul francese si riportano <strong>Pieter Serry<\/strong> (Quick-Step Floors), <strong>Ben King<\/strong> (Dimension Data) e <strong>Antwan Tolhoek<\/strong> (LottoNL-Jumbo), che a 30 chilometri dalla conclusione hanno una manciata di secondi di vantaggio sui primi inseguitori, con <strong>Igor Anton<\/strong> (Dimension Data) molto attivo. Si prosegue dunque nuovamente a scatti e nuovamente \u00e8 la Sky a prendere la situazione in mano per riportare l&#8217;ordine.<\/p>\n<p>La salita finisce dunque con un nulla di fatto, mentre nella vallata che dai 25 al traguardo porta verso l&#8217;ultima difficolt\u00e0 di giornata alcuni corridori provano ancora ad anticipare. Non sono queste azioni a fare la differenza, ma una caduta a venti chilometri dal traguardo, in seguito ad una sprovveduta manovra di Ben King, che tocca la ruota di Robert Gesink (LottoNL-Jumbo), finendo malamente a terra dalle posizioni di testa. Con s\u00e9 lo statunitense trascina alcuni big, tagliati fuori dal successo, tra i quali\u00a0Primoz Roglic, Gorka Izagirre, Michael Matthews, Jay McCarthy, Tony Gallopin, ma soprattutto restano a terra <strong>Egan Bernal<\/strong> (Sky) e <strong>Mikel Landa<\/strong> (Movistar), che necessitano dei soccorsi medici per poi esser trasportati in ospedale in ambulanza, entrambi immobilizzati con un collare.<\/p>\n<p>Inizialmente il gruppo rallenta, ma il Murgil \u00e8 sempre pi\u00f9 vicino e dopo un momento di attesa \u00e8 naturale ripartire a grande velocit\u00e0 con la bagarre per il posizionamento a portare una brusca accelerazione. Nel primo tratto dei 1800 metri al 10,5% di media ci si studia, ma quando arriva la parte pi\u00f9 dura, con pendenze fino al 22% arrivano gli scatti. I primi a partire sono rimbalzati dalla durezza dell&#8217;ascesa, ma quando parte <strong>Antwan Tolhoek<\/strong> (LottoNL-Jumbo) si capisce che l&#8217;azione \u00e8 pi\u00f9 decisa. Su di lui riesce a riportarsi, non senza fatica, <strong>Rudy Molard<\/strong> (Groupama-FDJ), ma \u00e8 quando parte <strong>Ion Izagirre<\/strong> (Bahrain-Merida) che la situazione esplode definitivamente.<\/p>\n<p>Assieme al basco ci sono infatti anche <strong>Julian Alaphilippe<\/strong> (Quick-Step Floors), <strong>Greg Van Avermaet<\/strong> (BMC) e <strong>Bauke Mollema<\/strong> (Trek-Segafredo). \u00c8 proprio quest&#8217;ultimo ad averne pi\u00f9 di tutti in salita, rilanciando l&#8217;azione per raggiungere e superare a velocit\u00e0 doppia il duo al comando, impotente anche quando sopraggiunge Alaphilippe, unico che sembra in grado di poter rientrare su Mollema. Il ricongiungimento avviene in vista dello scollinamento, con la nuova coppia che si lancia subito a tutta nella discesa.<\/p>\n<p>Davanti subito grande intesa, mentre dietro c&#8217;\u00e8 pi\u00f9 confusione con Tolhoek, Izagirre, Molard e Van Avermaet che a cinque chilometri dal traguardo hanno un ritardo di oltre venti secondi. La collaborazione manca agli inseguitori, che perdono terreno e vedono alcuni corridori riportarsi sotto. A due chilometri dal traguardo il margine della coppia al comando \u00e8 dunque ormai di quasi trenta secondi, troppi perch\u00e9 la disperata accelerazione di Kruijswijk e Van Avermaet possa portare altro che illusioni.<\/p>\n<p>All&#8217;ultimo chilometro davanti salta chiaramente l&#8217;intesa, visto che ormai \u00e8 chiaro saranno loro a giocarsi il successo. Mollema dunque non concede pi\u00f9 cambi al pi\u00f9 veloce Alaphilippe, ma il francese non si fa prendere dal nervosismo e gestisce bene la situazione, rallentando fino al momento in cui far esplodere tutta la sua potenza. Per Mollema non c&#8217;\u00e8 niente da fare, impossibile uscire dalla ruota e dalla scia di Alaphilippe, che conquista cos\u00ec la Clasica San Sebastian 2018.
