Tirreno-Adriatico 2018, Roglic: “I wanted to attack far out because I’ve already lost sprint in my career”

Primoz Roglic found the opportunity to release the crash he was involved yesterday by winning Tirreno-Adriatico 2018 stage 3. Lotto Nl-Jumbo rider didn’t wait for the stage leading pretenders to light the fuse and attacked with over two kilometers remaining, anticipating the jostling. “It was my tactic to attack from far out because I’ve already lost some sprints in my career – said Roglic after having stepped off the podium – I couldn’t wait till the end so I just went flat out after I got a gap”. The Slovenian has already accepted the defeat occurred yesterday and reveals himself confident thanks to today’s success: “I came to Tirreno-Adriatico to target the GC but I lost my hopes yesterday because my bike was damaged in the crash. So I switched the focus to other goals. I got my stage win and I’m happy with this. I’m also a time trialist but usually I don’t like flat time trials so much.”
