Giro d’Italia 2018, Froome: “Not only Dennis and Dumoulin gained time today”

Chris Froome doesn’t get discouraged after the result achieved on Giro d’Italia 2018 stage 1. Team Sky leader in the Corsa Rosa finished thirty-seven seconds down on Tom Dumoulin. In this way the Tour de France winner in office gets a bad start but instead of regretting his performance congratulates his competitors. “I’m not relying on TT’s to try and win this Giro with Tom here – says Froome – He did a great ride today. To come here and win out of the box like that is seriously impressive. Congrats to him. Obviously Rohan Dennis and Dumoulin were the two guys who gained time today, but there are other GC guys there or thereabouts. There’s a long way to go and it’s good to be here and get the racing under way”.

Chris Froome: “I’m just glad I’m not more injured after today”

Chris Froome spent a little talk speaking on the crash that occured this morning during the stage recon. “A crash is always going to hurt but I’m just glad it wasn’t more serious. Obviously I saw what happened to Siutsou who is in hospital. I’m just glad I’m not more injured after today. That’s bike racing though and all part of the sport“.
