Abu Dhabi Tour 2018, Bauhaus: “It’s really nice to win against such a super strong field”

Phil Bauhaus (Team Sunweb) takes his second victory since he is wearing the German team’s jersey at the Abu Dhabi Tour 2018. After having achieved an eleventh and a sixth place on stages 1 and 2, the German rider takes the sprint over fellow countrymen Marcel Kittel and Pascal Ackermann on stage 3 and proves that he’s no longer weaker than the other main contenders of bunch sprints. “My goal here was to go for a podium or take a win, so it’s really nice to be able to achieve that against such a super strong field” are the words with which Phil Bauhaus begins his speech after he succeeded in winning today’s stage in Al Marina after 133 kilometers of racing.

Former Bora sprinter claims that this success it is also because of a strong and well-arranged team that has supported him. “We have a really good team here for the sprint and I’ve been working well at home – affirms the twenty-three years old – It’s always hard to get the first win of the season and get the ball rolling, especially after such an unlucky day here yesterday”, referring to the crash which occurred to Sunweb’s GC leader Tom Dumoulin. “I hope we can continue like this into tomorrow and Sunday where we have a lot of cards to play”, says in the end the German.
