The wait for Dwars Door Vlaanderen 2018 is almost over. The Belgian mini-classic is set to take place on March 28, just four days before the Tour of Flanders. An editor of Cyclingpro.net had the opportunity to speak with the organizers of the WorldTour race who confirmed that 17 of the 18 teams that meet on the starting line will be from the WorldTour. The only team absent will be FDJ, who did not participate in the race even last year when the Dimension Data was also missing.
We have also had confirmation of the key riders who will be present. Greg Van Avermaet (BMC), Philippe Gilbert (QuickStep – Floors), Sep Vanmarcke (EF Education First-Drapac p / b Cannondale), Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale) and Sebastian Langeveld (EF Education First-Drapac p / b Cannondale) will all go head-to-head on the cobbles.
A name that may also be thrown into the mix is Alejandro Valverde, of Movistar.
The race organizers are still waiting for a response from the World Champion Peter Sagan’s Bora – Hansgrohe team.
