Join us for live text coverage of Tirreno-Adriatico 2018 Stage 5 from Castelraimondo to Filottrano (178 kms). The week-long stage race is the first test for Grand Tour general classification riders and we’re likely to see the big names testing themselves throughout a-week time. From Wednesday, March 7 until Tuesday, March 13, 22 teams – 18 of which are World Teams whereas 4 are professional teams – will compete along the roads of Central Italy over sprints, climbs and time trials. It will be definetively one for both the punchers today and, anyway, it will be again a crucial step for the ones who are targeting the overall win. Stage 5 of Tirreno-Adriatico 2018 is probably the most important day of racing because of extra-agonistic reasons: today’s the stage in memory of Michele Scarponi. The finish line is set in Filottrano, where Michele grew up, where he used to live with his wife Anna and his sons Tommaso and Giacomo and where, on tragic April 22, 2017, he lost his life. Mikel Landa (Movistar) dedicated the victory achieved yesterday in Sassotetto to Scarponi and lots of riders wants to succeed in winning today in order to raise the hands and to lift the eyes to the sky, where the memory of Scarponi lives.

Live coverage starts at 11:45
