Abu Dhabi Tour 2018, no fractures for Cavendish after the crash

Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) does not suffer from bone fractures after the crash wich occurred in the first stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour 2018. The British went down before the official start of racing was given and fell on the shoulder he fractured in the crash of last Tour de France stage 4. Cavendish’s worry was to live again the suffering of recovering again from a bone fracture, so the medical staff of Team Dimension data decided that was the best decision to stop and let the sprinter have a check-up. Dimension Data’s medical doctor Adrian Rotunno explained the reasons why the British abandoned the race and unveils the results of Cavendish’s medical check. “Mark sustained a concussion and a whiplash injury after his crash today. Due to the concussion, we were not willing to risk rider safety and the call was made for Mark to stop the race. A serious neck injury has been excluded in hospital. He currently has some concussive symptoms and neck pain, but is otherwise stable. We will monitor Mark’s condition closely going forward” explains team doctor, highlighting the absence of any bone fracture.
